Consider a weak fuel pump of pinhole leak in the rubber line at the shroud. In this scenario, the fuel pump can keep up at low demand but not under high load. I had this once on a Cutlass convertible. Really saved on gas - If you accelerated just a little too much... BOG and slow down. Easy did it. Craig N.
