Sounds like a lame excuse to me, Matt.

Perhaps a better explanation: Portland, like Seattle, is way up in the 
western corner of the country - fewer population centers, and overall much 
lower population density in surrounding areas than the East, Midwest, or 
even the California-Arizona area.

BEFORE a convention!  We go to conventions to relax!   Visit!   Get educated

Also,  comparing to Tahoe '99.......anyone with any common sense  knew
Portland would be "light"....sudden surges in fuel prices always does that 
to any
meet.....big or small!
