Bob,
I ran a 64 Spyder cpe with the 3.27 setup and was very pleased with  it.  
Since you're in 1st gear for such a short time there is no loss at the  bottom 
and 2nd and 3rd gear is a better acceleration combination.  I also  felt I got 
more boost time in 4th gear.  Of course the 64 engine is the  long stroke 
engine with more torque but I'd think the 63 should do near as well.
