Nice report Warren. I, too, had a great time on the streets of north florida (those in the test facility, that is).

The Florida corvair enthusiasts were great hosts, and Fast Eddy laid out some nice courses to run. The trip was definitiely worth it, especially since the fuel costs were significantly lower than expected. The event reminded me a lot of the Iowa Fire and Ice events, laid back, lots of friends, friendly postering, battles within the battles.

Contrary to Warren, though, I preferred the Saturday course... OK , I ran better saturday than sunday. But the 3 or 4 switch backs in the center of the course were a blast. It took me awhile to do all the parts of that course right on the same run. I got to about 2.7 seconds of Warrens EM car. Being that close to the Master was a good feeling. The Sunday course reminded me the most of the Iowa track. Simple to follow with plenty of turns to keep you interested. I was much closer before the rain. That gave Warren time to regroup, adjust his car, get teh right ballast (passenger) etc to really bury me time wise. I'll make more adjusted, and practice some more for next time.

The Sunday course, I had to make up excuses, none were valid except the one where I lacked the ba**** , er, bravery, to make the left turn after the straight. My times definitely showed it -- as compared to the master. The left reminded me a bit of the left at gateway after the straightaway. Hang on, and turn. I just couldn't get myself to do it. Warren, and a few others, did. I needed 3 or 4 more runs to get that corner right.

Oh. using the SCCA pax i still lost to master Warren by half a second. May be time to get the car down to SCCA CP minimum, wider tires, more HP, then maybe? Looking forward to 2009.
