It sure sounds to me like waiting for the original April vote with the 
attendant opportunity for Director discusion and presentation is a more 
appropirate avenue to approach this increase.

The fancy periodical (it has changed names over the years), while 
expensive, is a historical part of this organization, and just by itself 
is probably worth the dues when compared to similar limited distribution 
commercial publications.  I sincerely treasure every copy I have, like 
the one with the self described "ugly mug" on the cover of Volume 6, 
Number 3 -- anybody know what happened to the Ian Richardson car of that 
issue?

An online example (with tax and alumni support) is Oregon Quarterly, The 
Magazine of the University of Oregon -- a pretty nice mag, free to U of 
O grads -- one year subscriptions (four issues) are available for $30 
per year for U.S. residents or $40 per year for those living outside the 
United States.
