<VV> PG Slow To Engage In Reverse when cold

My '69 since I bought it at 20K miles has had a very hard instant shift into reverse , hot or cold !
The shift to drive is a nice normal engagement.
I avoid reverse while on the fast idle cams.

My '66 does the same thing ever since I've owned it (about 30 years). No
amount of fluid changes etc. have helped. It takes about 2-3 sec when cold.
But when hot, it will directly go from drive to reverse with no hesitation.
It has about 120k miles on the PG

Mike,

Same for my '68 Powerglide. It is getting a little old at over 200K, but
the slow reverse has been part of its nature since I bought it with less
that 50K on the odometer.
