probably shorting speaker fader option 3 pin plug with jumper in it on tuning knob side of radio. it is under the bezel. missing a nut on tuning shaft at bezel will do this. popular problem with dealer installs in the 60's etc. radio got shipped out for repair , bench checked ok...then the phone calls started. regards, tim colson
