<VV> Corsa dash gauges question

Is an Ammeter or a Voltmeter appropriate for substitution in one of the  
smaller gauge positions?
 
I like the Ammeter because it says  +  or  --   .   Easy to comprehend.

 Voltmeter is a better choice!   Ammeter wiring has to be large gauge...all the way up to the dash and then back to the battery....
