I have only adjusted valves running once in the 40 plus years
of working on these engines.
The system I use is this;
Take an old distributor cap and carefully cut all of the towers off .
Install it on the distributor with the rotor.
Then bring the engine up on TDC on 1 cyl.
then adj.those to valves,turn the crank to the next point in the fireing order,
and adj those valves {intake& exhaust].
It has worked like a charm for me.
