They have to come off straight.  You have to have the same amount of gap on
the top and the bottom or they will bind.  Close up the gap at the top and
try to pull them off straight.

  I want to plastigage  my rod bearings but am having trouble getting the
bearing caps off. With the nuts off I am only able to get a small gap
between the rod and cap on the top side. What works for you folks out in VV
Land. Happy New Year and thanks in advance. (I didn't see anything in the
archives).
