<VV> fuel pump question- also 65' vair with the ignition woes now runs on starting fluid =)

Hey guys,

     Just searched the archives but nothing useful showed up.  I have the ignition system working now so the car runs on starting fluid but the pump hasn't managed to get fuel to the carbs yet.  I know it usually takes a while but now the fuel pump started spitting a little fuel out the little pinhole in the top cover... I imagine this means a bad diaphragm?  The pump was working fine when last used, but it has been bouncing around the garage for four years since =P.

     Talk to me about OE type vs electric...  what kind of cost involved in the conversion?  Any tips on how to do it or what electric pump to use?  I'm not worried about stock appearance.
