And, the Falcon wheels are narrow compared to Corvair wheels. By 1/2" IIRC.

You can tell they are Falcon rims by measuring the width, or looking for
the Ford oval instead of a GM stamp on the face.

Also of note, the 60-61 wheels have been identified as being prone to
cracking. Check them carefully. If you are an "enthusiastic" driver, change
to
62-64 wheels or aftermarket. (Unless you are really stuck on those early
caps!) - Seth

The 60-61 rims are the same (see print from parts manual below), but
different than the 62-on Corvairs. The 60 hub caps are shaped slightly
different
than the 61 hub caps, which are slightly smaller than the 62 and on. So,
you will run into exactly what you are by trying to put 61 caps on the
other
rims. We know this because we have two 61 wagons and a 62 and the 62 had
61 rims and we tried to put on a set of 62 hub caps. Had to buy a set of
62
rims so they would work.
The nubs mentioned in the other email are to mount the full wheel covers.
A 61 wheel will have the three nubs. If it doesn't they are not 61 wheels.

Be advised that Falcon wheels have the same bolt pattern as a Vair and
possibly other makes will too. Don't know and details about the Falcon
wheels,
though.

When i purchased My 61 Lakewood which had been in storage for over 25
years, didn't have the original wheels on it and when I was trying to
install
the dog dish hubcaps they showed some resistance so I stopped working on
it
for the day. Just wondered if the 61 wheels were different on that
respect?
