The catch is that the paper clip needs to push the release pin, which is
only in line with the hole when the lock is rotated to the extreme left.
Rotating the lock requires the key.

If I remember, you stick a pin (paper clip opened up) into the pinhole in
the tumbler, and rotate the cyl while pulling (prying) the tumbler out of
the switch.

I recently acquired an early with no key, and the ignition in the "on"
position. After trying every one of my collection of B-10 keys with no
luck, I got another cylinder with keys. Now the problem; How do I remove
the useless cylinder when I have no key to get it into the lock position?
I'm thinking I may have to resort to hammer and chisel tactics, which I hate
to do to any Corvair.
