<VV> Need a hint to **replace** an e-brake cable ?

OK, I've never done this before, so I have no idea of how the cable looks up 
over the steering column.
Is there a hypothetical cotter pin where I drew it ?

Does the column need to be lowered ?  (It doesn't seem to give me enough 
room to see even if I try, maybe I need a dentist's mirror to see around 
that corner ?)

Probably the next time it'll be easier, but the first time, not so much ...
